My Favourite Historic Autumn Months
These favourites will all be recent because I'll only be choosing my favourite autumn months that have happened in my lifetime.
SEPTEMBER 2016
September of 2016. The temperatures were more extreme than 2006 (although 2006 was warmer, it just wasn't on the same level as 2016 in my books), it generally felt like summer for much of the month, I remember a lot of generally warm weather throughout the month too, and a lot of blue skies for me in the east anyways. We had some nice rain showers to here and there, so it wasn't a borefest, and it wasn't too dry.
The 1st to middle part of September was particularly fantastic, the temperature near mid month reached 29 Celsius here, gorgeous weather. Shortly after this the month went a little downhill, but it wasnt desperately downhill, Generally around 16-22 Celsius for much of the month, which was quite pleasant, still and there was still sunshine here and there, we recorded 130.3 hours in our local town, coupled with pleasant warm temperatures, at a time of year when the sun is weakening and the nights of lengthening, it's left its mark with me as a remarkable month, and a beautiful one at that.
That's why September 2016 was my favourite, some areas did get some nice thunderstorms too, although generally I missed out.
OCTOBER 2012
I'm going to have two favourite/memorable October's and I'm guessing some people know what the other October will be.
This October was a favourite, because it was quite cold, generally for me and I saw my earliest snowfall ever this month, towards the end of the month I saw some snow. I wouldn't mind reliving this month again, the lack of sunshine didn't really bother me anyways, it was quite wet here too, so it felt very dreary and autumnal. And I loved it.
OCTOBER 2017
I put 2012 October above 2017 October, because generally I prefered 2012, however 2017 cannot be forgotten, it was a nice warm month, not very much sun, but I didn't really pay attention to that. But the thing that has bumped October 2017 onto this list is the Hurricane, that turned my area brown, and the sun read, that day was incredibly humid. I remember feeling like I was in a tropical area or something because it really did feel extremely humid. I haven't felt anything that humid before or since.
Now on to November:
NOVEMBER 2010
I think most people saw this coming haha, how could we forget that potent cold at the end of November, that'd eventually bring us a record breaking December.
The snow, everything that month was perfect, at the time I was pretty young, not paying attention, and I never expected the month after to be so bitterly cold, I'll never forget this month probably, unless a better one comes along to top it.
The shocking thing is, November was quite mild right up until the last week, all of a sudden the severely cold weather right at the end switched November from becoming a mild month to quite a cold month (coldest since 1993)
Which just shows how striking that month was, a month I'll never forget! Hopefully.
We had a really low minimum temperature to around -7 or -8 that month too. But December 2010 would blow those numbers out of the water later.
