I'm seeing October as a particularly chilly month, and I see it as becoming increasingly unsettled. With high pressure becoming a less common feature as the month progresses, the start of October may be quite dry and sunny, but I believe that will be shortlived for both the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, it'll feel more like autumn as the month progresses, and less like summer, this mostly dry weather we've been having in both the UK and Ireland looks like itll be coming to an end.
I do see more increased westerlies, however I do see quite cold winds at times making inroads into the UK, (north easterlies) more towards the end of the month though.
I do believe that it'll be a cooler than average October (the first cooler than average October since 2012) I don't think it'll be as cold as 2012 though, however it really just depends.
People will be asking about whether we will see snowfall this October, but that's incredibly hard to predict/say this early, however if October is quite a cool month, we do have an increased likelihood of seeing some snow particularly in parts of Scotland but you cant rule out the odd snow shower in England etc, as both 2012, and 2008 produced snow showers at low levels. And I believe 2000 did also.
However it really depends because you need the right set up.
Finally, to round everything up, a cooler, more wetter October is expected, possible snow if there is the correct** setup. Drier beginning, cooler wetter end expected.
